The BW-SCC invitational was held at the new Saint Croix Central High school this year on Sept 6, 2000. Teams present included Amery, Bloomer, Boyceville, Colfax, Durand, Ellsworth, Glenwood City, Mondovi, New Richmond, Osceola, Prescott, SCC, Somerset, St. Croix Falls, and Unity.
BW Varsity Girls had a large enough team to be eligible for scoring this year--five runners constitue a minimum team. Sophomore Catherine Hennessy completed the girlsí course for the Hawks with a time of 19:48 (41st place), followed by Freshman Kristin Hovde at 21:10 (55th place). Sophmore Heather Gunderson finished with 21:32 just before freshmen Rachel Ungar at 22:02. The Hawks team was rounded out by Hillary Lindbom at 27:13. BW girls varsity made 10th place in a 16 team field.
BW Varsity Boys were lead by senior Scott Scholmeyer with a time of 21:29, followed by junior Aaron Peterson at 22:01 and senior Time Gartman at 22:02. Freshmen Greg Lund, a last minute replacement for an ill teammate, was the fourth Hawk to finish with a time of 22:57. Senior Derrick Lindbom was the fifth Hawk with 24:33, and junior Luke Esanbock finished as sixth Hawk with a time of 24:43. BW Varsity placed 11 in a field of 16 teams.
JV Boys did not have a complete team because of absences or injuries. Sophmore Duane Hovde led the Hawks four-man field with a time of 26:12, Jerry Lindbom made the course in 26:12, AJ Hil in 28:01, and freshmen Michael Mentink came in at 33:21.
The next meet is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept 12 in Durand, followed by a meet in New Richmond on Sept 14.
